The woren originate from the island of Intari and the nation of Zaiya

The great tribes of the Woren roam where they will, putting passion into every day of their varied lives. Woren nomads roam the grassy plains, living in tribes segregated by their visual differences. Woren tribes range from friendly to hostile; encounters with Woren depend more on an individual Woren's mood and the circumstance more than any tribal mind-set. Quick in movement and thought, the Woren rely on short bursts of energy to accomplish nearly every task, making the other races seem plodding and dedicated in comparison.

Physical Description: Woren resemble a cross between a large predatory cat and a human, with a sleekly muscled humanoid body and the head and mane of a feline. Most male Woren wear their thick hair in braids, while females keep theirs short and sleek. The most common Woren have feline characteristics reminiscent of lions, including thick manes for the males. Other groups have the characteristic markings and appearance of leopards, tigers, or cheetahs, lions and so forth.Many Woren favor the use of charms and totems that they braid into their hair for luck in battle, success on the hunt, and good fortune in other such endeavors.

Society: While self-expression is an important aspect of Woren culture, it is mitigated by a strong sense of community and group effort. In the wild, Woren are a hunter-gatherer tribal people. The pursuit of personal power never comes before the health and well being of the tribe. More than one race has underestimated this seemingly gentle people only to discover much too late that their cohesion also provides them great strength.

Woren prefer to be led by their most competent members, usually a council of sub-chieftains chosen by their peers, either though consensus or election. The sub-chiefs then choose a chieftain to lead in times of danger and to mediate disputes among the sub-chiefs. The chieftain is the most capable member of the tribe, and is often magically talented. Woren who settle in more urban and civilized areas still cling to a similar tribal structure, but often see friends outside the tribe, even those from other races, as part of their extended tribe. Within adventuring groups, Woren who do not consider themselves the obvious choice as chieftain often defer to the person who most resembles their cultural ideal of a chieftain.

Relations: Woren get along well with members of just about every other race. They admire those who live in the wild more than city dwellers. Because of this, they seek out the company of elves. It's not uncommon to see elves and Woren living in mutual harmony in settlements or having a high population within the elven city of Lara in the Silver Forest.

Alignment and Religion: A deeply spiritual people, Woren usually worship one deity to the exclusion of others. The general alignments of the Woren vary from tribe to tribe and their traditions.

Adventurers: Natural born trackers, the hunter-gatherer aspect of their tribes pushes many Woren toward occupations as rangers and druids by default, but such roles don't always speak to their love of performance art, be it song, dance, or storytelling. Woren legends also speak of a rich tradition of great sorcerer heroes. Those Woren who internalize their wanderlust often become wizards and monks, with many of those monks taking the path of the nimble guardian. While Woren cavaliers and inquisitors are rare (steadfast dedication to a cause is often alien to the Woren mindset) individuals who choose these paths are never looked down upon. Woren understand that exploration and self-knowledge can lead down many roads, and are accepting of nearly all professions and ways of life.

Medium: Woren are medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size
Type: Woren are considered humanoids with the Woren subtype.
Normal Speed: A Woren have a base speed of 30 feet.
Low light vision: Woren have low light vision
Natural Hunter: Woren receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception, Stealth, and Survival checks.
Sprinter: Woren gain a 10-foot racial bonus to their speed when using the charge, run, or withdraw actions.
Languages: A Woren begins speakin Rhakesh and common. A Woren with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Rithian, Elven, Gnoll, Goblin, Orc, Sylvan and Meholivian (except Druidic).
