The rai Originated from the island of Intari. after the fall of the Nataka empire they spread all through the Emril region.

Rai descend from the creatures known as the Oni thousands of years ago, having lost the evil taint and might of their Oni ancestors over the centuries and becoming more of a tribal cousin to them. Despite their monstrous and intimidating appearance, most Rai are indifferent about good and evil.

Physical Description: The most trademark marking of a Rai are a small set of horns upon their head; however, their features are typically quite varied, much like human beings, but their features can also prove to be quite feral in nature; that is, their skin color can sometimes take on a more demonic hue and appearance whereas the majority of them tend to share the same skin color as humans. Hair and eye color have virtually no limitations to color.

Society: Rai society has always been characterized by hardy and rugged living. As a result of this, they are staunch pragmatists, and never shy from killing if it will protect the future of the Rai or his clan. All Rai, regardless of gender or station, are expected to pull their own weight and weakness is considered a grave liability; however, most clans and tribes treat the weak members of their families differently: Some exile them, and some give them the jobs that no one wants to do, such as tending to horse manure or become simple gatherers.

There is no discrimination between genders in Rai society. Women are able to pursue the same career choices as men, rise to positions of power and are even expected to answer to the call for battle just as men are. Strength (both physical and mental), courage, initiative and independence are prized traits in all Rai. Traditionally, children are seen as children of the parents, but are raised as children of the clan.

Relations: Rai tend to judge people by their overall mental and physical strength rather than their actual racial or cultural backgrounds. There are, however, a few tribes and clans that are extremely xenophobic and do not tolerate outsiders. They tend to get along with orcs and ogres better than any other of the races having much in common with them normally. Some Rai are even known to live in societies and clans with them. When one befriends a Rai, these alliances tend to last a lifetime most see friendship as a sacred bond between creatures regardless of backgrounds. To insult a Rai's friend is normally as if throwing an insult to the Rai himself, and many back-alley brawls have been known to occur due to this.

Alignment and Religion: Rai tend to have a strange primal faith that can be considered shamanistic and respect the spirits for the most part most Rai are Chaotic Neutral.

Adventurers: Many Rai leave their clans in order to seek adventure and battle. and rarely do they care for the cause and end product content with just traveling the path that took them there. Rai tend to be good mercenaries as many towns and merchants hire them as bodyguards due to their loyalties and low keep preferring usually to get paid in food and ale rather than currency.
