The chaos of battle is the sacred charge of the worshipers of Pennsilia. In all the myriad forms of terror and suffering that war creates, there is a strange kind of unity. Battle is a test of merit and strength, and living and dying by the sword is the definition of the good life.

Many of Pennsilia's worshipers believe that blood spilled in battle feeds their goddess, increasing her madness and bloodlust. Chaotic neutral worshipers believe that non-combatants and weak opponents are meaningless, and that killing them does nothing to satiate their goddess or prove their ability; killing those unworthy of a warrior's death even angers Pennsilia, they believe. Chaotic evil worshipers, who are far more common, disagree, believing that all slaughter is a sacrament, and that the dying screams of innocents are music to Pennsilia's ears, hymns in the church of the battlefield.

Cadmus and Pennsilia have created Gavet and Caine on their union. This shows that even the gods have strange bedfellows.

Pennsilia appears as a tiefling of any age or sex, slender and graceful, wielding a pair of magical morningstars that she can shrink to easily conceal. She is usually dressed in cloth of dove gray, dusty rose, or golden orange.

Divine Intervention

Divine Servants

Malius is her current Champion.

Church of Pennsilia

Many factions of Pennsilia's cult exist, fighting one another as often as they fight nonbelievers. In cities, they tend to be less overt, forming a nebulous organization known as the Temple of Carnage. Most of Pennsilia's faithful are chaotic evil, though a few are chaotic neutral.

Worshipers and Clergy

Pennsilia’s clerics favor rust red or bloodstained garments. They are cruel, sadistic, and hateful. They maintain a low profile in most civilized lands. In savage areas, members of the priesthood are known as bullies and murderous tyrants. They love to deface beautiful things and to disfigure attractive people.

Temples and Shrines

Any place where great bloodshed or a spectacular act of cruelty has occurred is considered a holy site and an excellent place for a temple dedicated to Pennsilia. In the countryside, Pennsilia’s followers build squat, unsightly fortresses in places where battles, ambushes or massacres have occurred. In urban areas, Pennsilia’s temples are usually hidden in seedy sections of cities, preferably on sites where horrible crimes have happened.

Holy Texts

Book of Blood
A book of prayers that are customarily rhyming chants with gory subject matter.

The 1st of every month a bloody tribute is to be made in her honor.
