Half Rai

Physical Description: Half-Rai look very much like their rai parents with the execption of being much smaller in size. Depending on the non-rai parent, some may have elven ears or slightly dim glowing eyes like their vada parents. Half-Rai have the horns like their rai parents though sometimes they are much smaller.

Society: Half-Rai have no society of their own, but they usually adapt easier to the society of their non-rai parent with most having a difficult time keeping up with the tasks and chores of their rai kin within the tribes and clans. Regardless of bloodline, they are seen, and stereotyped, no different than their rai parents making it, sometimes, difficult to live in more civilized societies. The less tribal Rai societies, within communes and established cities, see them as equals, and they tend to mentor them in the ways of fighting and, in some cases, the use of divine magics; whereas, the more feral and aggressive tribes may see them as too small and weak to even bother with. Half-Rai born in Rithia tend to usually be loners due to the deep hatred rithians have for rai, and Rai see them as simply rithian blooded.

Relations: Half-Rai are tolerated nearly everywhere, but being accepted in the elven and vadalani cities and villages is another story altogether. Vada admire their tenacity, but they cringe at their origins while humans regard them as no different than a half-orc. Rai tolerate them, but they see them as weaker cousins.

Alignment and Religion: Half-Rai vary in alignment, often according to subrace. Those with elf blood are generally good aligned while those with human blood travel the middle of the road - preferring more neutral paths. Those with vada blood gravitate towards lawful thinking, and those influenced by their Rai tribes enjoy more chaotic endeavors.

Adventurers: A Half-Rai's belief in their own talents drives them to try great deeds, for good or ill. It's very rare for a half-rai to be satisfied just being a cobbler or a farmer, but some of them have been known to become scholars, and, in some communities, either tribe leaders or chiefs of the villages. Most half-rai are driven to become martial classes such as brawler and fighter where the more tribal ones become barbarians. Those of vada origins usually become vanguards so they can satisfied their need for combat and spell casting.

Racial Benefits
Ability Bonus: Half Rai characters gain a +2 racial bonus to one ability score of their choice at creation to represent their varied nature.
Medium: Half Rai are medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Type: Half Rai are humanoids with one of the following subtypes Human, Elf And Vada players must select one this cannot be changed.
Dark Vision: Half rai Have Low light vision.
Skilled: Half Rai receive a +2 skill bonus to a skill of their choice to represent the difrerent subtypes that exist.
Resistances: +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison, spells, and spell-like abilities. Half rai with the Vada subtype only take half damage from effects of Arcanium see the Vada racial for details.
Drunk Oni: A rai receives the Hard drinking feat as a bonus feat see Alcohol Rules
Languages: Half Rai begin play speaking Common and the Main language of their selected subtype. . Half Rai with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Gnoll, Goblin, Orc, Rithian, Sylvan (except Druidic). See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.
