Half Dwarf

When humans and dwarves spend a period of time in the same area, friendships and romances naturally develop. While not nearly as common as half-elves, half-dwarves tend to spring up in areas where dwarves and humans frequently interact. They are known to combine the adaptable nature of humans, with the sturdiness of a dwarf

Physical Description: Half-dwarves stand just over 5 feet tall, and typically weigh slightly more than their human brethren due to their large build and wide frames. Their hair is usually gray, black or brown and they have widely varying skin tones ranging from pale white to a deep tan. Half-dwarf men do not value their beards as highly as dwarf men, and just as many will often be seen without beards as are seen with.

Society: Half-dwarves do not have their own lands, and will usually live among either their human or dwarf kin. Half-dwarves are not as sedentary as their dwarven kin, but not quite as willing to travel as their human relatives. Thus, half-dwarves can be found almost all over the world, but they are rarely found too far from a dwarven stronghold.

Relations: Half-dwarves, like all mixed races, find themselves at the crossroads of cultures. Humans treat half-dwarves like dwarves, and dwarves treat them like humans. Since they often feel like outsiders, they frequently identify with other outsiders. Half-dwarves often carry their dwarf parents perception of elves and orcs, but otherwise they behave more less openly to other races.

Alignment and Religion: Half-dwarves raised by dwarves tend to follow in the lawful tradition of dwarves and are typically lawful neutral or lawful good. Those raised by humans could be of any alignment.Much like humans, half-dwarves worship all manner of deities, but they do have a few leanings. Half-dwarf warriors will turn to Caine for guidance in battle, and half-dwarven war priests of Caine are quite common. In addition, half-dwarves, like their dwarf parents, have a knack for crafting and many will seek the blessings of Thamul in their work.

Adventurers:As outsiders in their home communities, half-dwarves frequently seek out a life of adventure. Many half-dwarves feel that they have something to prove, and they often seek to use their natural toughness and stout stature to turn themselves into accomplished warriors. Some half-dwarves share the love of gold and gems that their dwarf parents possess, and they choose an adventuring life to seek out lost treasures to grow their personal wealth.
